This page says, in plain terms, what The Funded Route collects, why, and how to have it deleted. If anything here is unclear, write to support@thefundedroute.com.
Who is responsible for your data. The Funded Route is run by Farhaan Ahmed, trading as The Funded Route, at Balistraat 5C, 2585 XK The Hague, Netherlands, who decides why and how your data is used and is the data controller for it. 'We', 'us' and 'our' on this page mean him. Write to support@thefundedroute.com about anything here, including to exercise any of the rights set out below. Payment data is handled by Paddle, which is a separate controller for the sale and answers for its own use of your data under its own terms.
What is collected, and why
Your email address. Collected when you buy a product, and when you ask to be told that enrolment has opened. Those are the only two ways this site ever gets it. If you bought something it is used to give you access and to email you about it; if you asked to be told, it is used for that email and for the funding deadline calendar, and for nothing else. The free Map asks for no email address. There is no newsletter.
The list, if you join it. If you ask to be told when enrolment opens, your address and the date you asked are kept in the site's own database. There is no mailing-list company holding it, and it is never passed to anyone. You can come off the list at any time by writing to support@thefundedroute.com, and asking to come off ends the whole of it.
Your order records. When you buy the Toolkit or the course, an order row is kept: your email, which product, the price paid and its currency, the date, whether it is paid or refunded, and whether it counts as a founding purchase. When you open a checkout, a short record of it is kept before you pay, without your email: which product, the price offered, and Paddle's reference for it, so that only a checkout this site opened can be fulfilled. These rows exist so that your access works and so a refund can be honoured. They are stored in the site's own database (a Cloudflare D1 database).
Your progress and your work in the course. If you have the course, the site keeps, against your email address, which track you chose, which lessons and modules you have finished and when, your answers to each lesson's questions and exercises (including your Candidacy Audit scores and the country you pick), and everything you type into a lesson's workspace, so that your place and your drafts are there when you come back and can be carried into later lessons. It is stored in the same database as your order records, is not read by us except to act on a request from you, and is never passed to anyone. While you have access you can download your work from the course as one file, covering every lesson you can open; for anything else, write to support@thefundedroute.com. Nothing in the course asks for your health, religion, ethnicity, political views, sex life or sexual orientation, or trade-union membership. If you choose to write any of that into a workspace, it is kept only to give it back to you, and you can have it deleted at any time.
The free Map downloads directly and creates no record of you at all. Where you use a form on this site, a shortened, non-reversible form of your network address is kept for up to an hour so the form cannot be abused, and is then erased. It is never used for tracking.
That is the whole of it. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no tracking of how you move around the site, and no profile built about you beyond the order rows and the course progress and work above.
Why we are allowed to hold it. Your email address and order record are held because they are necessary to give you what you bought and to honour a refund, which is the performance of our contract with you. Your course progress and the work you save are held for the same reason: the course is built around that work, carried from one lesson to the next, so keeping it is part of giving you what you bought. Where tax or accounting law requires an order record to be kept after that, it is kept to comply with that legal obligation. If you asked to be told when enrolment opens, that is held on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by writing to support@thefundedroute.com; withdrawing does not affect anything done before you did. Where you use a form and a shortened form of your network address is kept briefly, that is held to stop the form being abused, which is our legitimate interest in keeping it working. If you do not give an email address, we cannot deliver access to a purchase, which is the only thing it is needed for.
Who else handles your data
Email: Resend. Sign-in links for access to what you bought, and the emails you asked for if you joined the list, are sent by a transactional email provider (currently Resend); your purchase receipt comes from Paddle, the merchant of record (below). Resend sees only the email address it needs to send to. Resend carries the message and does not hold the list: the list itself stays in this site's own database.
Payment: Paddle. When you buy, the payment is handled by Paddle, which is the merchant of record for the sale. That means Paddle takes the payment and handles the card details and the tax; The Funded Route never sees or stores your card number. Paddle keeps its own records of the transaction under its own privacy terms.
Where your data goes. The site, its database and its file storage run on Cloudflare, and sign-in emails are sent by Resend. Both act only on our instructions, under written data-protection terms that include the standard contractual clauses approved for sending data outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.
Paddle is different, and the difference matters to you. As the seller of record for the purchase, Paddle decides for itself how it uses your data rather than acting on our instructions, so what it does is governed by its own privacy terms and not by this page. Which Paddle company you contract with depends on where you are buying from, and Paddle names them in its own checkout terms.
Where your order details come from. Your email address and order details reach us from Paddle after a purchase, rather than from you directly, because Paddle is the party you buy from.
Copies of the terms we hold with Cloudflare and Resend are available on request.
Cookies
The site uses only what it needs to work (for example, to keep you signed in to what you have bought). There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
When you buy, Paddle's checkout script loads on the checkout page so that the payment can be taken. It loads nowhere else on this site. Anything it stores on your device is Paddle's, kept under Paddle's own privacy terms.
How long it is kept
Your email, your order records, and your course progress and work are kept for as long as you have access to what you bought, or until you ask for them to be deleted, whichever comes first. If your access ends because of a refund, your course progress and work are kept for 90 days, so that you can ask for a copy or pick up where you left off if you buy again, and are then deleted. Order records may be kept longer where tax or accounting rules require it. If you are on the list, your address is kept until you ask to come off it.
How to have your data deleted
Write to support@thefundedroute.com and ask. Subject to any records that must be kept for tax or refund purposes, your email address, your order records, your course progress and work, and your place on the list will be deleted. If you want to keep your work, download it from the course before you ask. Deleting your order record ends your access to what you bought, and the shortened form of your network address described above goes with it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to it being held on the ground of a legitimate interest. Where you gave us data to perform our contract with you, you can also ask for it in a portable form; while you have access, most of your course work can also be downloaded from the course as one file. Write to support@thefundedroute.com and say which of these you want; there is no charge and no form to fill in.
If you think your data has been handled wrongly, you can complain to a data-protection supervisory authority. Ours is the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). If you are in the European Economic Area you can also complain to the authority where you live, where you work, or where you think the problem happened. You can do that whether or not you raise it with us first, though we would rather you told us and gave us the chance to put it right.
